Greg De Los Santos, Sr., 53, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016. He was born in Victoria on May 2, 1963 to the late Manuel De Los Santos, Sr. and Maria Carmen Trevino De Los Santos of Victoria. Greg grew up in Victoria and was a 1982 graduate of Stroman High School.
He began dating his "Babe" on May 2, 1983 and married Kimberly Allen on July 18, 1992. One of his greatest joys and accomplishments was beginning a family mariachi “Mariachi De Los Santos” with his niece and nephews. They were well known throughout the community.
Greg was a teacher with VISD for a few years at Hopkins Elementary School and students have fond memories of the lessons he taught them. During his career he worked at various chemical plants in the area until he could no longer work. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 9088.
He was very proud of their children going to college and continuing their education. He was looking forward to seeing his daughter graduate from Baylor University in May 2017 and Greg, Jr.'s graduation from Texas A & M University in May, 2019. Greg was a good friend to anyone he met and was always willing to help out wherever needed. As the number one fan of his children and supporter of their activities, he was always there as the loudest cheerleader at Greg's football games and Andrea's drill team activities.
Greg will forever be loved and missed by those he leaves behind, his mother, Maria Carmen Trevino De Los Santos; his loving wife of 24 years, Kim Allen De Los Santos; daughter, Andrea De Los Santos and son, Gregorio "Greg" De Los Santos, Jr.; sister, Elena Luna and her husband Raymond; brother, Thomas De Los Santos and his wife Rosemary, all of Victoria; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel De Los Santos, Sr.; sister, Christina Hinojosa; and brother, Manuel De Los Santos, Jr.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm followed by a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm, Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Colonial Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at De La Garza Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Raymond Luna, Jr., Fabian Luna, Manuel De Los Santos, III, Isaac De Los Santos, Eli De Los Santos and Marcos A. Hinojosa.
Greg remained positive and faithful in the Lord during his battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to help defray funeral expenses.
