

Gwendolyn R. Bright, 89, of Victoria passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014. She was born October 11, 1925, in San Antonio to the late Dr. and Mrs. J. C. Gohman. The family home was in Edinburg where she attended college before going to New York during World War II. In New York she was a Conover Model and toured the Pacific with the U. S. O. in the show, “Cover Girls Abroad.”
After the war she returned to Edinburg and in 1948 married Jack Bright. The Brights lived in Alice before moving to Victoria where Mr. Bright was a builder and developer for 40 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Bronte Club of Victoria.
Survivors include her son, Scott Bright and wife, Karen of Copperas Cove; grandchildren, Cody and Leland Bright and Alex Graham.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Bright; a daughter, Gayle Bright; and sisters, Eleanor Akin, Margaret Rogers and Dorothy Blackwell.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 14, 2014, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Graveside services will be Monday, December 15, 2014 at 10:00 am at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rev. Jarrell Sharp officiating.
