Gwendolyn Y. Ross

Gwendolyn Hall-Ross went to be with the Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 4, 2016 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 81. Gwendolyn was born in Placedo, Texas, on October 15, 1934 to the late Willie and Verna Hall.

She lived her life up to the fullest, no matter what trials were laid before her. Gwendolyn met her love of her life Curtis H. Ross. They were united in Holy Matrimony June 23, 1951. To this union four children were born. Gwendolyn is survived by her loving husband, Curtis H. Ross, of Placedo, Texas; her children, Pat Houck (Allen) of Sugar Land, Texas, Alton Ross, of Bloomington, Texas, Howard Ross (Judy Harvell ) of Placedo, Texas and Darlene Jackson deceased. There are five grandchildren; Arelecia "Dee" Ross, Gunnery Sgt. Patrick Houck (Courtney), Kayla Diggs, Jeremy Jackson and Tiffany Houck; and four great-grandchildren; Caleb Brown, Kynedeil Ross,Kam'ren Glenn and Adon Ellis.

As a member of Webster United Methodist Church, Victoria, Texas, she served in many roles in the church, from financial secretary, hospitality committee, and communications. Other organizations included membership with United Methodist Women, ABWA, and Athena Book Club.

Visitation for Gwendolyn’s life is Wednesday June 8, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are Alton Ross, Howard Ross, Ronnie Ross, Lance Ross, Jeremy Jackson and Caleb Brown. Honorary pallbearers are the Webster Chapel United Methodist Men. A Celebration of Life Services will be at 11 am Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Pastor Zettie Woodson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
