

J. W. (Jack) Rose, age 90 went to be with Jesus on June 4, 2011. He was born April 8, 1921, to the late T.L. and Dora Cleveland Rose in Edna, Texas. He grew up in Edna and at 16 years of age joined the CC Camp and went to Elephant Butte, N.M. Later he joined the Army and was stationed in Oklahoma during WWII. After his Army discharge he moved to Houston to work at Todd Shipyards in Pasadena and Galveston. While attending church in South Houston, he met the love of his life Hazel. They have been married for over 66 yrs and have raised four daughters.
In 1947 he trained and became a piano technician of Brook Mays Piano in Houston. In 1952 Mr. Rose moved his family to Victoria, Texas to work for Hauschild Music Co. for 8 years. He was a professional “piano man” to the VISD music teachers, Victoria College and many area churches. He also tuned pianos for concert pianist that came to Victoria. In 1961 Mr. Rose opened Rose Piano Company at 503 E. North St. and operated it until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Rose also owned Rose homes and built many quality homes in the Victoria area.
Mr. Rose is survived by his wife Hazel, daughters Patricia Vaughn and husband Jerl, Paula Hedrick and husband Don, and Wanda Rose all of Victoria, sister Mable Dollery of Alvin. His ten grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren also survive him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son Jerry Wayne Rose and daughter Peggy Sue Rose Myers, three sisters, and five brothers.
The family will receive friends Monday June 6, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 7, 2011 at 2 PM at the Rosewood Funeral Chapels with Rev. Nick Stewart and Derral Humble officiating.
Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors under the direction of the Victoria Veterans Council.
