James (Jimmy) A. Whitaker, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 26, 2025, on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. His beautiful soul was carried to Heaven by his Guardian Angel, escorted by 1,000 legions of God’s Holy Angels, leaving his “earth suite” behind at His Safe Harbor, surrounded by family. He was born in Corpus Christi, TX on October 23, 1943, to the late James Willis and Artie Robinson Whitaker. The family relocated to Victoria TX when he was 8 years old and resided there until his passing.
Jimmy graduated from Victoria High School in 1965. He owned and operated his own beauty shop before he graduated from high school. After about 20 years, he sold his shop and went into real estate.
Jimmy was always an obedient servant of the Lord. His objective was to go wherever the Lord directed him to be. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes where he served as a Eucharist Minister. Jimmy was most at home when he was called to minister and bless others. He could be described as a true disciple of Jesus.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wire, Dian Post Whitaker and precious fur babies.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy; son, Myke Whitaker of Victoria; daughter, Valeri Singh (Gene) of San Antonio, TX; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Extended family, Patrick Johnston (Stefani); 2 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. More friends than stars in the sky. His doggy Miss Moll and old kitty Miss Stinker.
Services will be held, July 1, 2025 at 11 AM in the mausoleum at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8819 US Hwy 87 N., Victoria, TX.
Pallbearers are Patrick Johnston, Woodie Johnston, Skylar Singh, Norman Schoener, Pat Krenek and Cliff Moczygemba.
Many thank you’s to so many, many friends and family, Hospice of South Texas (Dr. Meyer and staff). Special thanks to Del, owner and operator of His Safe Harbor and her staff for the specialized care and love they provided Jimmy during his final weeks on earth. Also, special thanks to Father Pat, Father Albert and Father Phi for their many hours of sharing God’s love and mercy with Jimmy.
