

“Jim” Ima Jean Gossett, age 88, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011. She was born November 16, 1922 in Clarksville, Texas to the late Arvil H. and Mae Clawson Hale. She was a former resident of Corpus Christi and Robstown, and had lived in Victoria for over 60 years. She was a Baptist. Jim was a retired Teller Operations Assistant Vice President for First Victoria National Bank. After her retirement, she worked at Colonial Funeral Home.
She was a charter member of the ABWA DeLeon Chapter. Jim served as treasurer and secretary for both the Six Flags Trail Ride – Wheel and Spur Riders, and the Victoria Horseman’s Club – Youth Rodeo. She also drove the ambulance for the Red Cross during WWII while she was living in Corpus Christi.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Edgar "Sambo" Gossett of Victoria; grandchildren: Garrett Gossett of Victoria, Kim (Jeremy) Gossett Howard of Santa Fe, Lara Wilburn Harris of San Antonio, Shelton (Anna) Wilburn of Houston, and Robert (Ines) Davis of San Antonio; . great-grandson, Austin James Howard; and 8 great grandchildren; and brother, Thomas Wayne (Tommy) Hale and wife Donna of Corpus Christi.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edgar Martin Gossett; and grandson Brandon Wilburn; sister, Hazel Kuck; and brother, Sidney A. Hale.
Visitation will be held 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, February 11, 2011 at Colonial Funeral Home with the Rev. John Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Garrett Gossett, Shelton Wilburn, Robert L. Davis, Ronnie Hale, Danny Hale, Charles Wayne Gossett, and Ronnie Gossett. Honorary pallbearers are Jeremy Howard, John Larson, and Charles Lassman.
