Jimmie “Jim” Norman Fleeman, age 93, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in his home surrounded by his family. Jim was born on March 26, 1932, to the late Hilma (Lindner) and Billy Fleeman in Placedo, Texas. Jim lived a life defined by hard work, deep love for his family, and a gift for storytelling.
Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force from the ages of 18 to 22, giving four years of service to his country. After his military service, he dedicated 37 years of his life working at Union Carbide, where his strong work ethic and reliability were well known. That same strong work ethic became a lasting legacy, one he proudly passed on to his two sons.
He was a man who truly enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. Jim loved sitting on the porch watching the deer, sharing stories, and spending time with those he loved. His hobbies included storytelling (a favorite among family), Texas Hold’em poker, dominoes, and karaoke. However, one of his favorite pastimes was enjoying the abundant harvest of his grapefruit tree. He kept his family, neighbors, and even staff at the local post office filled with a rich supply of grapefruit! Above all though, Jim loved his family dearly.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Leroy Fleeman and Gene Fleeman; his sisters Joyce Veit, Margaret LaFour, and Alice Bubenik; and his daughter-in-law, Karen Fleeman.
He is survived by his two sons, Terry Fleeman and Larry (Lori) Fleeman; his granddaughters Tiffany Finley (Jeff), Meagan Fleeman, Taryn Flores (Nick), and Lindsey Sklar; great-grandchildren Jason Clemons Jr. (Macee), Kayden Clemons, Levi Finley, Lexi Finley, Brodie Flores, Laryn Flores, Larsyn Flores, and Sutton Sklar; and his great-great-granddaughter, Saige Elizabeth Clemons.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Robert “BJ” LeBlanc for the exceptional care and devotion he has provided Jim over the past several years. This grew into a special friendship cherished by Jim.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 5:30-7:30pm at Colonial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Hospice of South Texas.
Jim will be remembered for his warm heart, his stories, his laughter, and the deep love he had for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of memories that will be cherished for generations.
