John Joseph “Joe” Ruddock, Sr., 86, passed away, August 21, 2016. John was born June 25, 1930 in Cost, Texas to the late Sidney Winston and Bertha Mae Miller Ruddock. John opened Ruddock's Grocery store in the Guadalupe Community in November of 1962 and operated the store for over 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a great story teller. Prior to purchasing Ruddock's, John worked in the oilfield.
John is survived by his sons, John Ruddock, Jr. (Kathleen) of Victoria, David Ruddock (Barbara) of Pearland; brother, Billy W. Ruddock (Michael Ann) of Victoria; sister, Sidney Broussard (Norris) of Victoria; 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of over 50 years, Lorene Kraatz Ruddock.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
A funeral service will be Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10 am at Rosewood Funeral Chapels with burial immediately following at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
