Joyce Simms of Victoria passed away on Wednesday, the 14th of January 2026, at the age of 89. She was born in Taft, Texas, on the 6th day of September 1936 to Alva Oris Taylor and Johnnie McCombs Cross.
Joyce was a loving wife and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Joyce had a natural talent for art. She specialized in acrylic paints most on canvas. She also loved tea parties with her grandkids and was named "Tea Party Grandma".
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Simms Eaton, and son, Virgil Simms, both of Victoria; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. "Red" Simms, in 2013; her daughter, Diane Graham; her son, Dennis Clayton Simms; and her siblings, Betty Key, Edna Kerth, Gladys O'Neal, and Jesse Taylor.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until seven o'clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 21st of January, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. The funeral service is to be conducted on Friday, the 23rd of January, at one o'clock at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Larry Green officiating.
An interment will follow immediately via an escorted cortege to Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Those honored to serve the family as pallbearers are Johnathan Noack, Cody Gebert, Aaron Weiser, Matthew Hewitt, Eddie Kirchner,and Mitchel Locke.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Simms may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
