

Juan proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He retired after 28 years of dedicated service to Southwestern Bell (AT&T). He was an active member in the VFW Post 4146, Catholic War Veterans Post 1269 and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Pearl (his GI brat) and her husband Kenneth Garcia of Victoria and Flora Medellin of Austin; son, Eugene Medellin of Austin; grandchildren, Adam Austin Gonzales, III and Kristen Kayla Gonzales; brothers, Miguel (Adela) Medellin, Raul (Veronica) Medellin, Martin (Marisela) Medellin, and Jose Luis (Sara) Medellin; sisters, Maria Del Carmen Granados, Maria Estella (Ovidio) Mireles, Rosa Linda (Ray) White, Concepcion (Basilio) Hernandez, and Maria Adoracion Verdiguel; and many nieces and nephews.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Juan Francisco Medellin and Guadalupe Medellin; and sister, Sylvia Medellin.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 6 to 7 pm followed by a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held 9:00 am on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Our Lady Of Sorrows Catholic Church with Father Jasper Liggio officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery with Full Military Honors under the auspices of the Victoria County Veterans Council, ALA,CWV, VFW, WWII, VVA, et al.
Pallbearers will be his son, Eugene Medellin; brothers, Miguel, Raul, Martin, and Jose Luis Medellin; grandson, Adam Gonzales, III; son-in-law, Kenneth Garcia; and Trino Garcia, III. Honorary pallbearers are Ben Fuentes, Willie Steen, and Mateo Offe.
