Mary Judith “Judy” Zuniga was called home on June 30, 2025. She was born November 30, 1941, in Rock Island, Illinois. Judy was a Registered Nurse and particularly loved working in Labor and Delivery so that she could hold as many babies as possible. Music was one of her greatest passions. She especially loved the holiday season listening to music while she decorated her home and prepared holiday meals for her family. Judy had a lot of fun acting in plays with the Junior Service League of Victoria. She cultivated many strong friendships, across generations. Her friends would say that she was funny, intelligent, a great hostess, a fabulous seamstress and she had a beautiful singing voice. She loved hosting her friends in Estes Park and sharing with them her love for the mountains. She enjoyed crafting, Mah-jongg, and reading. She also loved summers at Lake Travis with her family and any season, but especially fall in Estes Park, Colorado, in the Rocky Mountains. She adored working with fabrics and her sewing room was her sanctuary, a warm reflection of her creativity and many talents. Each of her grandchildren has a quilt that she made special upon their birth, and those will be passed down and treasured forever. She will be dearly missed as wife, mother, grandmother (MeMommy), and friend. She touched the lives of many during her life and they are better for knowing Judy.
Judy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Oscar G. Zuniga, children Lisa Zuniga, Susanna Thornton (Danny), Paul Zuniga (Daphne), and Amy Mabray (Michael), and many beloved grandchildren.
