

Lawrence Allen Koehl, 93, of Victoria passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at home surrounded by his family. Lawrence was born January 21, 1922 in Victoria to the late Peter A. and Maggie Moeller Koehl. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II in Africa and Italy. Mr. Koehl was a heavy equipment operator for Brown and Root. Lawrence married Billie Jean Gray August 4, 1951. He was also a member of Northside Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #40 AF/AM where he received a 50 year pin, Order of the Eastern Star Violet Chapter #158, VFW Post 4146, and was formerly active in the Victoria Shrine Club, Al Amin Shrine Temple of Corpus Christi and 32° Scottish Rite of Houston. Lawrence enjoyed gardening, watching football and baseball, fishing, hunting, traveling and playing cards and dominoes with his buddies.
Survivors include his daughters, Beverly Frasier of Louise and Karen Dunseth of Victoria; sister, Joyce (Bernie) Stumfoll of Victoria; brother, Rawley (Doris) Koehl of Temple; grandchildren, Mallory (Jayson) McKeon, Shanon (Craig) Hale and Allison (Seth) Canalichio; great-grandchildren, Will Canalichio and Ava Hale; caregiver, Patsy Dalton; and his beloved cat, Blackie.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Gray Koehl, in 1997; his son, Michael David Koehl; sisters, Edna Marthiljohni and Ada Cocoros; brothers, Clarence Koehl, Roland Koehl, Dennis Koehl and Elwood Koehl; grandsons, Chase and Chance Frasier.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 pm Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 15, at 2:00 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels, Rev. Mickey Ewing officiating. Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council and a Masonic Graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Koehl, Darrell Ferguson, Allan Strelec, Mark Canion, Russell Moore and Bradley Koehl.
