Marcella Julie Rother, 91, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024. Marcella was a warm and loving lady who had a spirited personality, infectious smile, and joyous laughter that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Marcella was adored by all who knew her and the warmth she brought into their lives was treasured.
Marcella was born on November 25, 1932, in Moulton, TX, to Charles and Justina Kubenka. She grew up on the family farm and later worked as a nurse’s aide at the local hospital. It was at the Cotton Grove Dance Floor that she met her husband, Weldon, who had returned from service with the Navy. They married in 1952 and later settled at Evergreen St. in Victoria, TX. Together they built a life raising their children, Rodney and Debbie, filled with unconditional love and laughter. Marcella cherished her family the most and focused her time on making a warm and loving home. Their home was often full of activity where family and friends felt welcomed and many would consider Marcella their second Mom. She was known for her famous home cooked meals and was always willing to lend a hand to her neighbors. Later in life, her love expanded to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. After Weldon retired, they would often visit their farm in Hallettsville working on the land and tending to the cattle with the family. Marcella will always be loved and her memory will never be forgotten with those who were blessed to have known her.
