Peg was born on May 29, 1935 in Barnesboro of Cambria County, Pennsylvania to Thomas Sims Scollon and Dorothy Tatters. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alexander (Al) K. Lyster Jr; daughters, Margaret Jean Wilpitz (Bobby) of Houston, Frances Ann Muench (Gayle) of New Ulm and Marie Christine Santos (Dan) of Vista, CA; sons, Alexander K. Lyster III (Lisa) of Victoria and Thomas Clinton Lyster (Jill) of Bryan; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Peg was a fulltime housewife, mother of 5 children and organizer/coordinator extraordinaire for her family. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral and sang in the Adult Choir and Canticle of Mary Choir for many years until 2020. Peg enjoyed reading, knitting, playing the piano and playing games with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Peg and Al were avid travelers attending pilgrimages from Italy to Medjugorje, trips to Scotland, Hawaii and various places across the continental US. They also traveled to Africa several times to establish a modern diagnostic laboratory facility with The Brothers of St. John of God in Ghana. The Africa trips typically lasted several months.
Peg enjoyed hosting the family for various holiday gatherings beginning with smaller numbers as the children got married to larger gatherings with all the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren attending. The house was alive with laughter that accompanied the good natured but competitive family camaraderie.
Pallbearers are Tim Lyster, David Lyster, Daniel Wilpitz, Nick Burton, Brian Lyster and Ed Bolton.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Brazos Valley Hospice, and HomeSpark caregivers Cynthia, Lakisha and Julia for the extraordinary care and compassion they provided to Peg.
