

Mary Ruth Gesch Hightower born in Roswell, New Mexico on March 8, 1930.
She was a lady of many talents including sewing and crocheting. She enjoyed crocheting lap blankets for people in nursing homes and gave them away with much love in her heart. Mary lived in Corpus Christi, Texas for many years then later relocated to McAllen, Palo Pinto,Texas and then to Victoria after owning and operating snack bars and a Mexican restaurant throughout Texas. She met her Sweetheart and her soul mate, Jack Hightower, in 1962. They married in 1969 and were together until he passed on in 2006. She was a Sunday School teacher and church librarian for many years. Grandma and Great-Grandma for over 40 years. She always had a big smile & hug for everyone and had the biggest heart
Mary’s love, traditions, smiles and characteristics will be carried on by her daughter Donna “Rusti” Woods of Cheyenne, Wyoming; five grandchildren Ron Woods of Austin; Lori McClure of Atlanta, Georgia; Michelle Gray of Houston; Chris Woods of Colorado and Melanie Doolin of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 7 great grandchildren: Tiffany Palmer Searcy, Joshua Palmer, Jeremy Gray Jr., Brittani “Rene” McClure, Justin McClure, D.J. Doolin and Justus Doolin; brother’s, Wilbur Ray and O.C. Ray ; sister Ruby Hendricks of Roswell, New Mexico, Roy Bivens (father) and nephew Butch and Virgie Houck of Inez.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Hightower; daughter, Shirley Leath; mother, Lula Mae Wilson Ray Frieske, step-father Arthur Frieske; and sister, Claudia Ealy.
Memorial Services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home with the Rev. James Shamburger officiating.
