Mary Dolores Uptmor, 87, a lifelong resident of Victoria, left this world on June 2, 2025, at the Dornburg Center of Compassion. Mary was born Sept. 15, 1937, to Victorina and Charles Pozzi. Both of her parents’ families were Italians who settled in Victoria in the early 1900s. Mary was the oldest of five children and graduated in 1955 from Nazareth Academy. She attended Victoria College and worked as a secretary and married Jerry Uptmor at St. Mary’s Church in 1970. They moved to Berkman Drive in 1972 shortly after the birth of Rebecca Anne (Hearn). Amy Victoria (Carlile) followed in 1974. When her girls were older, she started working part-time at Holy Family Catholic Church. Mary and Jerry attended Holy Family from its earliest days and were dedicated to the church throughout their lives. It was their second family. Mary retired from Holy Family in February. In addition to her husband and daughters and sons-in-law Jerry Hearn and Jim Carlile, she is survived by sister JoAnn McCullough, brothers David, Dennis and James (Jan) Pozzi, grandchildren Brandon, Samantha and Nicole Georgie, Catherine Hearn, Colleen Burke and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at eleven o'clock in the morning Wednesday the 11th of June at Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Gabriel Bentil and Rev. Ryan Kapavik concelebrating. A rosary will be recited at half past ten o'clock in the morning, prior to the funeral mass led by Deacon Eddie Huse.
Following a reception, a graveside service will commence at two o'clock in the afternoon at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Mary's name may be directed to Nazareth Academy or St. Joseph High School.
