Michael Lee Bennett Jr.

Mike Lee Bennett Jr. passed from this life on April 2, 2011 at the age of 73. He was born in Victoria on January 3, 1938 to Pinkie Blackley Scott and the late Mike Lee Bennett Sr. Mike retired from the Victoria Advocate in January 2002 after 35 years of employment. He was part-owner of Bennett's Barber Shop from which he retired in 2009.

He was proceded in death by his father, Mike Bennett Sr. and the mother of his children Mary Charlotte Crittenden Bennett. Mike leaves to cherish his many memories his mother Pinkie Scott, companion Nancy Battles, sons, John Morgan (Shellie) and Michael (Cindy) Bennett of Victoria and daughter Linda Johnson of Houston. He was blessed with one grandchild Michael Bennett Jr. of Victoria.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with the Reverend Fred H. Hobbs officiating.

Pallbearers are Keith Mooney, Eric Mooney, John Owens, Dennis Mumphord, Leslie Littles and Edward Barnes. Honorary pallbearers are Donald King, Ulyless Bland, Roy Buckner, Lonnie Prince, Henry Johnson, Horace Walton and Jimmy Watt.
