Mickey Ray Cantrell

During his life, Mickey served in the U.S. Army, worked in the oilfield industry, and recently retired from Malik Cable Devices. He was a computer enthusiast and enjoyed building computers for himself and his family, playing video games (mostly online), building model cars, playing guitar (always for his daughter’s friends when they were very young), playing Guitar Hero (which he lost numerous times to Kyle), and was an avid fan of football. In recent years, he thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with his high school friends and teammates, where they would gather for lunch, laughs, and fellowship.

Mickey is survived by his daughters, Dede Hill of Houston, Lori Moser (David) of Columbia, SC, Nikki Schmidt (Jackie Jr.) of Victoria; son-in-law Wayne “Bubba” Smith of Alvin; step-brother Ray Seivers (Charlotte) of Pflugerville; grandchildren, Jered, Caleb, Alexandria, Megan, Jessica, Chelsea, Tyler, Kyle, and Jordan; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; 1 niece, 1 nephew; and his “princess” Sensi (pug).

Mickey is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Geraldine (Gerri), and his eldest daughter, Gerri Smith.

Visitation will be at 1:00 on Tuesday, May 5th, at Rosewood Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 with burial to follow at Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be given to Adopt-A-Pet in his name or through the family for various charities he supported.
