

Paul M. Prater, age 96, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011. He was born February 14, 1915 in Wayne, Oklahoma to the late Thomas Daniel and Georgia Ann Moose Prater. He met the love of his life Leatha Lorene Boles in his teens and after 18 months of courtship, they married on December 17, 1933, their love enduring 70 years.
He had a lifelong love of music and played with The Happy Go Luckys at local retirement homes up until the last few weeks of his life. He enjoyed playing with the many people he came to know at the Yoakum Country Music USA and the Hallettsville Fiddle Frolics, as well as the jam sessions at Lolita.
He is survived by his son, Steve and wife Patty; son in law, Richard Reedy; grandchildren, Jennifer Prater and fiancé Sam Lewis, Julie Glosson and husband Jason, Rhonda Hammond and husband Tom, and Patrick Reedy and wife Kelly; great grandchildren, Brandon Prater, Jacob Glosson, Iris Blue, Emily Hammond, and Paul Hammond.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Leatha Lorene Boles Prater; daughter Gloria Danyece Prater Reedy.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm at Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, September 3, 2011. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mickey Ewing officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Reedy, Patrick Reedy, John Thomas, Herb Watts, Mickey Ewing and Bryan Roberson.
