

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received his Master’s degree in Education from Texas A&I University and served as a high school Principal in Nixon, TX. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanice Nolte Turner; daughters, Shannon Lee (Russell) Blandford and Toya Kay (Barry) Schafer; step-daughters, Ranee C. (Larry) Smallwood, Dee Ann Schnelle; step-sons, John Schnelle, James Schnelle and Tommy Schnelle; grandchildren Jayce Creech, Senisa and Caleb Blandford, Jason, Stephanie, Matthew and Joseph Smallwood, Catherine, Jonathan, Elaina, Emma and Elizabeth Schnelle; and many great grandchildren; brother, Tommy J. Turner; and sisters, Evelyn Shaw, Isabel Reed, Eunice Echols and June Edwards.
Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents; brother, August J. Turner and sister, Jeannette Alexander.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Colonial Funeral Home, Victoria, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria, with Deacon Steve Borowicz officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Cuero, TX.
Pallbearers are Jayce Creech, Caleb Blandford, Russell Blandford, Barry Schafer, John Schnelle and James Schnelle. Honorary pallbearers are Tim Reed, Bruce Reed, Mark Turner, Randy Edwards, John Shaw, David Shaw, Tony weaver, Dennis Alexander, Pat Echols, Mike Perkins, Raye Meyer, Tommy Schnelle, Jim Nolte and Roy Nolte.
