
Sidney proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. During his career, he flew “the Hump” during WWII, flying supplies into Manchuria and was stationed in many countries including Thule, Greenland, and Jordan where he was the last plane out of the country when the Six Day War broke out, and Hawaii.
He is survived by his children, Jerry Wilson and wife L. Diane, Tom Wilson and wife S. Diane, and Bruce Wilson and wife Alexa; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and son-in-law, Norman Nunn.
Sidney was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Ida Kidd Wilson to whom he was married for 51 years before her death in 1994; wife, Lila J. Hammonds Wilson to whom he was married for 17 years before her death in 2013; daughter, Gloria Nunn; brothers, Chuck, Donald, John and Harold Wilson; and sister, Louise Coffey and husband, Bob.
Family will receive guests at a Visitation from 12 to 1 pm, Monday, June 8, 2015 at Colonial Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Greg, Jimmy, Brad and David Wilson, and nephews, Mark Wilson and Mark Kidd.
