Sylvia Ann (Garcia) Salinas, 77, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024. Sylvia was born in Refugio on August 20, 1946, to the late Maria and Jose Garcia. Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sylvia found joy in spending time with her family, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known to many as "Momo". She had a sweet tooth and couldn’t pass up dessert. Sylvia loved to gamble and enjoyed monthly poker games with her siblings and family. She always looked forward to the annual holiday dances with her husband and close friends. She never met a margarita or a jigsaw puzzle she didn’t like. Before enjoying retirement, Sylvia was a nurse for over 35 years.
Sylvia is survived by her loving husband, Manuel Salinas Jr. of 56 years; son, Manuel Ray (Laurie); daughters, Crissy Franklin (Todd) and Gracy; brothers, George Garcia (Ruby) and Rene Garcia (Anna); sister, Patsy Rodriguez (Tony); grandchildren – Jacob Salinas (Stacie), Nikki Farley (Shelton), Tyler Franklin, and Taylor Franklin; great-grandchildren – Maddox Salinas, Torryn Salinas, and Kollyns Farley, as well as expecting her fourth great-grandchild in October 2024; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by parents and brother, Thomas Garcia, of Corpus Christi.
Visitation will begin at 9am on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral. Followed by a rosary at 9:30am, mass at 10am and burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Pallbearers include Robert Rodriguez, Russell Garcia, TJ Rodriguez, Chris Garcia, Jacob Salinas and Shelton Farley. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Garcia and Tyler Franklin.
