Vernon Ray Singleton

Vernon Ray Singleton, 73, a long-time resident of Victoria, Texas died on Thursday the 14th of June, 2012. Vernon, lovingly known as “Batman“ was born in Seagraves, Texas on May 4, 1939 to the late Lewis and Eula Belle Singleton. He Graduated from Denver City High School in Texas and went on to attend Hardin Simmons University on a Football Scholarship, continuing his education at Western State College in Gunnison, Co where he earned his BA Degree in 1962. Vernon began a highly successful career in the oil fields of Texas and later went on to start several businesses, including Quality Systems, in his hometown of Victoria, where he worked and resided for 40 years. Vernon loved God, his family, hunting, fishing and was a friend to everyone he met. Vernon was known for his sense of humor and generosity. He met the love of his life, Beverley Brooks, in 1959 and they married in Slayton, Tx on June 1, 1962. They recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Survivors; His Beloved wife Beverley, of Victoria. Daughter; La Vanda and her husband Dale Eichler, of Belton Tx. Daughter; Chantele Singleton, of Galveston, Tx. Favorite Sister; Violet Sue and husband Mac McCoy, of New Braunfels, Tx. Brother; Truby Duane Singleton and wife Betty, of Bryan, Tx. Grandsons; Wade and Lance Waitschies, of Victoria, Tx. Grandaughters; Kelcie, Hallie and Mackenzie Eichler and 1 Great Grandson, Dylan Waitschies, of Belton, Tx. Grand dogs Bongo and Daisy, and many wonderful Nieces and Nephews and their Families.

Preceeded in Death by; Parents, and a Brother Lewis Junior Singleton.

The Family will receive friends on Monday, June 18, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, 10 am at The Crescent Valley Baptist Church, Rev. Allen T. Coffey, officiating. Burial will follow at Crescent Valley Cemetery.
