Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Walter Dupuy lived a life filled with love, kindness, and laughter. He was known for his warm smile, gentle demeanor, and unwavering generosity.
Walter served in the U.S. Navy for 27 years in aviation, retiring in November 1987. After his military service, he worked as a military contractor with Lockheed Martin, The Boeing Company, and Kay & Associates. During this time, he traveled extensively, working in Kuwait after the Gulf War and later in Brazil. In 2005, he began a career in the oil and gas industry, working for Valerus for approximately eight years until he officially retired.
Walter was respected for his dedication, expertise, and hard work. He approached every task with diligence and integrity, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with him.
In his free time, Walter enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and cherishing simple moments with his family and friends.
Walter will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Karine Dupuy; his children, Robert Dupuy (Judy) of Santa Ana, California; David Dupuy of San Antonio, Texas; Denise Dupuy of Houston, Texas; Brian Dupuy (Andrea) of Waldorf, Maryland; Joseph Dupuy of San Antonio, Texas; and his stepson, Carlos Rosa of Inez, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephen Dupuy, Ashley Dupuy-Wynne, Taylor Dupuy, Scarlett Dupuy, Judah Dupuy, and Saige Dupuy; his great-grandchildren, Evelyn Bundy, and Adelyn Lown; his sister, Frances Dupuy; and his nieces and nephew, Michelle Bennett-Claunch, Crystal Dupuy, and Nathan Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Janiece Dupuy; his parents, Joe Lee and Sarah Dupuy; and his younger sister, Mary Jo Bennett.
It is never easy to say goodbye to someone who has been a part of our lives. Walter touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly for his kindness, compassion, and gentle spirit.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Walter Dupuy will be held at the United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM, located at FM 1686 and East Street, Telferner, TX
Military honors will be under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council following the service.
Walter Dupuy may have left this world, but his love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
