

William Edward Jarratt, 83 passed into the arms of Jesus August 20, 2014 after a long battle with heart disease. Will was born July 18, 1931 in Victoria to Eunice Faye Jarratt and John Littlefield Jarratt.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jessie Leah, brothers, Lt. Col. John L. Jarratt and Kenneth Lee Jarratt. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Barbara Orr Jarratt and children, Jess Edward Jarratt and Melissa Jarratt-Purl. Grandchildren, Ashleigh Purl-LaRocca (David), William Douglas Purl, Captain Matthew Edward Jarratt (Christine), Patrick Dunston Jarratt, Benjamin Wilson Jarratt and Beau Tayloe Jarratt. He had three great-grandchildren, Aribella Elise Purl, Luke Edward Jarratt and Cameron LaRocca.
Will graduated from Patti Welder High School in 1949 and proudly served in the Korean War conflict. Will worked at Union Carbide for 41 ½ years and then worked at the Texas Boll Weevil program for six years. He was most proud of his pioneering family, especially his father, John L., an archaeologist. He adored his family and if you were a friend of his, you were a friend for life. God, Country and Family were words he lived by. He believed Faith and Responsibility to his fellow man. Will could make you laugh every time you saw him, his sense of humor was his trademark in life.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Ashleigh Purl-LaRocca, William Purl, Matt Jarratt, Patrick Jarratt, Benjamin Jarratt and Beau Jarratt.
Honorary Pallbearers are: David LaRocca, Glen Srubar, Bill Kelly, John Jarratt, Werner Lamprecht, Richard Knebel and Benny Hurdle.
Visitation will be Friday August 22 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Rosewood, followed by burial at Nursery Cemetery. Rev. Steve Digby will preside over the service.
