

Betty Mae (Moses) Myers was born May 21, 1930 in Delaware Township, Michigan. She was the youngest of 4 children and grew up on the family farm on the Bay City-Forestville Road in Charleston, MI. After the death of her father, John Moses when she was 7, she and her mother, Martha Moses, moved to Detroit. In high school she focused her studies on secretarial skills. After high school she worked as a secretary at her church and at Wayne State University in Detroit. She and Robert (Bob) W. Myers were married on June 27, 1952 after Bob graduated from college. They began their married life in Dallas, Texas while her husband, Bob, attended Dallas Theological Seminary. She loved her life as a pastor’s wife at the 4 different churches in which he served. After Seminary they moved to Bennington, Kansas for her husband to pastor a Presbyterian Church, then to a church in Blue Rapids, Kansas, followed by a move to Faith Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kansas. During this time she was busy raising their 5 children. In Wichita she used her secretarial skills and worked at the Presbyterian Office. Their last home and home church, Church of the Valley, was in Apple Valley, California. She was an Executive Secretary for the City of Victorville in the Planning department for over 15 years until she retired in 1992. They both loved retirement and enjoyed several trips to Europe, visiting family and loving on her 6 grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and loved caring for those in each church in which she was a part. Betty was promoted to heaven on Friday, October 27th at the age of 87. She will be missed by her 5 children, Bill Myers, Bruce Myers, Brad Myers (Robyn), Becky Bax (John) and Bonnie Cruggs (Danny) and her 6 grandchildren, Robert Myers, Andrew Bax, Jeremy Bax, Rachel Bax, Emily Cruggs and Erik Cruggs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Myers, and her two brothers, Alfred and Kenneth Moses, and sister Lillian (Moses) Hawkins. Visitation will be held at Desert View Funeral Home in Victorville, CA on Monday November 6th from 9am-11am with a graveside following at 11:30am. A celebration of her life will be at 2pm that same day, November 6th, at Church of the Valley in Apple Valley.
