Bobby Irvin Anderson spent his early childhood in Oakland, California, where he shared joyful days with his brother and other beloved relatives. He attended public schools in Oakland before his family relocated to Los Angeles. There, he continued his education at Roosevelt Junior High and later graduated from Montebello High School.
An exceptional student, Bobby went on to graduate with honors in Computer Science from UCLA. Alongside his academic accomplishments, he nurtured a passion for the arts. He studied at several theaters in Los Angeles, competed in children’s pageants, and began his professional dancing career at an early age specializing in tap dance. His talent brought him many accolades, particularly for his performances with a professional troupe that frequently entertained in correctional facilities, including San Quentin, as well as at clubs like the Elks Lodge and for military troops.
Bobby had a zest for life and a love for travel, often exploring the world before and after retirement alongside his dear traveling companion, Walter Classman. He formed many lasting friendships and was a proud member of The Colombo Club and the Buchanan Golf Club. Bobby was passionate about golfing, biking, swimming, hiking, and cooking. He especially loved culinary experiences and enjoyed sharing meals with his longtime friends.
Professionally, Bobby retired from Bank of America, where he was deeply respected and admired by his colleagues, many of whom described him as “the nicest man we ever knew.” His warmth, kindness, and professionalism left a lasting impact on all who worked with him.
Bobby leaves behind cherished family members: his cousin Kathy Zaldivar and her husband Tony of Victorville, CA; his cousin Debbie Dowell of Virginia; his cousins Jerry and Mayo Rasmussen of Rio Vista, CA; and cousin Janice Rasmussen and Gary Golec of Hayward, CA.
He is also fondly remembered by lifelong friends: Jana Serezlis of Concord, CA; John Mazibrook of Walnut Creek, CA; Wil Peterson and Frank Moschiano, both of Concord, CA; and a host of devoted friends and former coworkers from his years at Bank of America.
