Carlos (Charlie) Varzeas, A.K.A. Brass Adams, passed away on February 11, 2021. He was born in Ludlow Massachusetts on September 13, 1921, the son of the late Antonio and Tereza (Adao) Varzeas. Charlie led a storied life, throughout his 99 years he bravely served his country first as a member of the US Navy in World War Two, and then again as a Police officer for the Springfield Massachusetts Police Department. After several years as lead prosecutor on numerous cases, he needed a change. Charlie’s next calling was the theater and acting, as he would say, acting was an obvious choice because he would play to juries on a daily basis. He began this endeavor by first performing in a couple local plays. He was immediately hooked. Not one for doing things only part way, he decided to attend University of Southern California where he received a bachelor’s degree in acting and film production. Brass Adams, as he would now be known was born. Brass Adams may not be a household name to most, but in his nearly 30 years of acting he has performed in numerous movies and television shows, with the likes of such actors as Sly Stallone, Tony Danza, Raymond Burr, Rip Torn, Peter Falk and Allan Arkin, just to name a few. Brass a proud member of SAG-AFTRA took his voting member duties very seriously, until his last days. And though Brass may be gone he will continue to live on in movies and TV shows currently being streamed on Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu.
