Carol Sue Jauregui was born October 30, 1947 in Southern California. She was the second child of her parents Ralph and Phyllis Durr. Carol grew up in California and went to Redondo Beach High School in Los Angeles. While in High School she met her future husband, Fred Jauregui. After Fred fulfilled his duty to our country in the Army, they were married April 24, 1967. In 1987 they sold their modest home in Torrance California and purchased the Service Creek Trading Post in Wheeler County, Oregon. They ran the restaurant and store there for 13 years. Carol was very active in the development of tourism in the region. The restaurant welcomed people from all over the world and had a table for “locals” that hosted a constant stream of characters from the area, many who have passed to the other side. In 2000, the Jauregui’s sold the business for health reasons, and moved to Crooked River Ranch in Central Oregon, then later moved to Victorville California. Carol enjoyed following local politics and took pride in her letters to the local newspaper. Having no children of their own, Fred and Carol remained close to their many nieces and nephews. Sadly, Fred passed away in 2015.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband Fred Jauregui, her sister, Betty and her parents, Ralph and Phyllis Durr. She is survived by her nephew Eddie Murphy, her niece Chantel Murray, her niece Miranda Massey and many Jauregui nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Victor Valley Memorial Park on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow at the St. Joan of Arc Parish Center, located at the corner of A street and Fifth in Victorville.
