Douglas Roice Norwood was born on July 27, 1956, in Oregon to proud parents Hubert and Darlene. He passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at Mountain Lakes — a place he loved dearly and often visited throughout his life. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Douglas served his country with honor and carried that same sense of duty and strength into everything he did. He worked as a truck driver for 12 years, a job that took him across countless miles of open road, though his heart always led him back to nature — especially Mountain Lake, where he found peace, solitude, and joy. Douglas had a love for adventure. He was a true daredevil who enjoyed camping, fishing, and riding his Harley. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and loved nothing more than a weekend with the race on, surrounded by the people and pets he loved. He was a devoted father to four children and a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren. His family was the center of his world, and he made sure they always knew how deeply he loved them. His home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the company of his two dogs and three cats. Douglas shared 30 beautiful years of marriage with his first wife, Karen, with whom he raised two sons. They built a life rooted in love, and he will be laid to rest beside her at Riverside National Cemetery. He later found love again with his second wife, Joanie, and spent eight wonderful years with her. Raised in Riverside County, Douglas eventually moved to San Bernardino County, where he spent over 30 years living in Adelanto. He is survived by his four children, 11 grandchildren, one sister, one brother, and many friends and loved ones who will carry his memory in their hearts. Douglas Roice Norwood lived life on his own terms — bold, loyal, and full of love. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, adventure, and unwavering devotion to his family.
