

She was born on May 1st, 1944, in the small farming community of Belen New Mexico. Felis was born into a large family with 7 siblings, 4 boys and 4 girls. Felis attended Belen High School in Belen New Mexico. She was raised and spent her teen-age years in Jareles New Mexico. In 1965 Felis met the love of her life, Joe Fernandez at a community dance hall in Hinkley California. Their love grew quickly as they married in Belen New Mexico on Feb 19th, 1966 and moved to San Bernardino California. Felis and Joe raised their young family in San Bernardino until they moved to Hesperia California in 1980. The home in Hesperia was custom built from the ground up, it was Felis’s dream and Joe made sure it was built exactly the way she wanted it. Felis and Joe continued to raise their family in Hesperia until Joe retired and they moved to Helendale California in 1998. Felis spent her retirement years right alongside her loving husband in their home in Helendale. Felis enjoyed sitting on the back patio with Joe, listening to music, and watching her roses bloom.
Family meant everything to Felis, she especially loved cooking, baking and seeing her family together. Felis was extremely friendly and never met a stranger. Felis had a special kind of unconditional love, not only for family but for her friends as well. Felis was loved and will be missed by so many because everyone knew how deeply she cared for all of us. Felis loved her grandchildren more than anything and would always make sure to find a way to make each of them feel special. Felis had sympathy for everyone and was a good listener, her gracious heart and compassion will be missed.
Felis is survived by her husband Joe Fernandez of Helendale, daughter Joyce Fernandez and husband Steve Samaras of Helendale, son Michael Fernandez and wife Malissa Fernandez of Rancho Cucamonga, son Albert Fernandez and wife Dawn Fernandez of Victorville, grandsons Aaron and Aadan Samaras of Helendale, grandson Philipp Fernandez of Victorville, granddaughters Marissa and Bryanna Fernandez of Victorville, granddaughters Mya and Hope of Rancho Cucamonga, great grandson Ryder Pitts of Victorville, brothers Eddie, Alex and Bobby of New Mexico, sister Clorinda of New Mexico. Felis is preceded in death by her mother and father Felipe and Luciana Peralta of Jareles NM, sisters Leonor and Mary of New Mexico, brother Florenio of Barstow.
Funeral services will be at 12:30pm on Thursday May 12th at Desert View Memorial Park in Victorville California. Felis’s celebration of life will be held at her son Albert’s home in Victorville immediately following the graveside service.
