Jose Oscar Ferrer, a beloved resident of Adelanto, California, passed away on July 3, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on February 2, 1953, in San Miguel, El Salvador, Jose lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a love for nature.
In his youth, Jose enjoyed playing soccer, a passion that continued into his later years as he avidly watched matches on television. He was an enthusiastic reader, taking pride in his knowledge of a variety of subjects, from history to politics. He had a solution for every problem. His well-informed opinions on various topics were evidence to his dedication to learning and understanding the world around him.
Jose proved to be resourceful during the years of civil war in El Salvador before moving to the United States, where he built a new life. He worked in the textile industry while in El Salvador. However, it was in the gardens and landscapes of California where he discovered his true calling. With a natural green thumb, Jose became skilled in gardening and landscaping, transforming ordinary spaces into lush, beautiful sanctuaries, which he took pride in designing for his customers.
In Adelanto, Jose was known not only for his expertise with plants but also for his warm heart and generous spirit. His work brought beauty and life to his surroundings, reflecting the kindness and vitality he carried within him. Jose enjoyed spending time with his dogs Lucky, Boy, Rocky, Oso, and Reider, and delighted in having other animals for his children and grandchildren to play with. He loved to take spontaneous sight-seeing trips with his lifelong partner, Juana, who just as in the journey of life, was willing to follow along.
Jose was preceded in death by his father, Jose A. Herrera; his younger brother, Armando Herrera; and his third oldest child, Martin Ferrer, who died shortly after birth. He is survived by his loving wife, Juana Ferrer; his mother, Juana Carranza; his children, Oscar, Norma, and Edwin; his siblings, William, Ana, Teresa, and Candelaria; his nine grandchildren; and his two great-grandchildren.
Jose Oscar Ferrer leaves behind a legacy of resilience, hard work, and the simple joys of cultivating life from the earth. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and whose lives he touched with his gentle presence.
May he rest in peace.
