Joseph (Jose de Jesus) "Joe" R. Covarrubias

Joseph Robert "Joe" Covarrubias, 86, of Hesperia, California, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021. He will be missed by family and friends, but will be remembered and loved forever. Joe was born on January 8, 1935 in Los Angeles, California, to Andres and Maria Covarrubias. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic School until 8th grade and attended Cathedral High School. After graduating high school in 1955, Joe served in the United States Navy on the USS Kenneth Whiting (AV-14) as a Petty Officer during the Korean War within the United States, Korea, China and Hawaii. During his service within the Naval Air division, he worked for North American Aviation in the Autonetics Division as an Auxiliary Fireman. In his later years after he served in the Military, Joe was employed in custodial services by Hesperia Unified School District as a Maintenance Supervisor until his retirement in 1992.

Of all the things that he treasured most, and was foremost in his life, was the love for his family. Joe was humorous, compassionate, generous, kindhearted and caring. He was a loving husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many over the years. His personality and smile illuminated every room he would walk in to, and the stories and memories he shared will forever be in our hearts.

Joe is survived by his two children, Patricia "Trish" (daughter Ashleigh) and Andrew "Andy" (wife Terri, Kathryn & Andrew II), as well as his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He accompanies his late wife, Beatrice Covarrubias (d. 2010) in Heaven, as well as their three deceased children: Anthony "Tony" (d. 2020), Daniel "Danny" (d. 2017) and David "Dave" (d. 1985) Covarrubias.

A memorial service and mass will be held for Joe on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Desert View Funeral Home, 11478 Amargosa Road, Victorville, California 92392. Following the visitation, there will be a burial service with Military Honors at 3:00 PM at Desert View Memorial Park, 11500 Amargosa Road, Victorville, California 92392.
