Juanita Borruel

Our beloved mother, Juanita Borruel passed away in her sleep early Monday morning, July 10th, 2023. She was born January 30, 1937, to Melesio and Josefina Gonzalez near the town of Valle de Santiago in Guanajuato, Mexico. During the Second World War, her father moved the family to the border town of Mexicali, Baja California. The oldest of 10 siblings, she remained in Mexicali until she married her husband, Albert Borruel. They were married on October 27, 1962, and made their home in Barstow, CA. She was a home maker and raised two children: a son Father Alberto J. Borruel and a daughter, Patricia Borruel. Later she helped raise her niece Angelica Perez Gonzalez, and her grandsons, Ariel, Josue and Abel.

She is preceded in death by her parents Melesio and Josefina Gonzalez, her sisters Guadalupe Gonzalez, Ramona Gonzalez, Mercedes Mayoral and a brother Ponciano Gonzalez. She is survived by her children, Fr. Alberto J. Borruel of Austin, TX, her daughter, Patricia Borruel, 3 grandsons, Ariel Rodriguez, Josue Rodriguez, and Abel Rodriguez all from Barstow, CA, her brothers Salvador Gonzalez (wife Martha) of Barstow, CA, Alfredo Gonzalez (wife Josefina), Domingo Gonzalez, her sisters Alicia Aguirre and Maria de Garcia (husband Miguel) from Mexicali, Baja California Mexico. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews both in Barstow and in Mexicali, Baja California Mexico.

We are grateful for the loving care of the doctors and nurses who attended to our mother during her illness. We especially thank the family, friends, the parishioners of St. Joseph in Barstow and Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Taylor, TX who have been praying for her during this time.

Visitation and viewing will be Wednesday July 19, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Barstow, CA from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Vigil service with recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7PM at the church as well. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 10AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment will take place a later date with a private graveside service. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Barstow or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Taylor, Texas, 111 W Rio Grande St. Taylor, TX 76574.

Nuestra amada madre, Juanita Borruel, falleció mientras dormía la madrugada del lunes 10 de julio de 2023. Nació el 30 de enero de 1937, hija de Melesio y Josefina González cerca del pueblo de Valle de Santiago en Guanajuato, México. Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, su padre trasladó a la familia a la ciudad fronteriza de Mexicali, Baja California. La mayor de 10 hermanos, permaneció en Mexicali hasta que se casó con su esposo, Albert Borruel. Se casaron el 27 de octubre de 1962 y establecieron su hogar en Barstow, CA. Era ama de casa y crió a dos hijos: un hijo, el padre Alberto J. Borruel, y una hija, Patricia Borruel. Más tarde ayudó a criar a su sobrina Angélica Pérez González ya sus nietos, Ariel, Josué y Abel.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres Melesio y Josefina González, sus hermanas Guadalupe González, Ramona González, Mercedes Mayoral y un hermano Ponciano González. Le sobreviven sus hijos, el P. Alberto J. Borruel de Austin, TX, su hija Patricia Borruel, 3 nietos, Ariel Rodríguez, Josué Rodríguez y Abel Rodríguez todos de Barstow, CA, sus hermanos Salvador González (esposa Martha) de Barstow, CA, Alfredo González (esposa Josefina), Domingo González, sus hermanas Alicia Aguirre y María de García (esposo Miguel) de Mexicali, Baja California México. Deja muchas sobrinas y sobrinos tanto en Barstow como en Mexicali, Baja California México.

Agradecemos el amoroso cuidado de los médicos y enfermeras que atendieron a nuestra madre durante su enfermedad. Agradecemos especialmente a la familia, los amigos, los feligreses de San José en Barstow y de la parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en Taylor, TX que han estado orando por ella durante este tiempo.

El velorio y la visitación serán el miércoles 19 de julio de 2023 en la Iglesia Católica de San Jose en Barstow, CA, de 5:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m. El servicio de vigilia con la recitación del Santo Rosario será a las 7 p.m. también en la iglesia. La Misa de Sepultura Cristiana será el jueves 20 de julio de 2023 a las 10 a. m. en la iglesia católica de San José. El entierro se llevará a cabo en una fecha posterior con un servicio privado junto a la tumba. En lugar de flores, pueden hacer donaciones en su honor a la Iglesia Católica de San José en Barstow o a la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul en Taylor, TX, 111 W Rio Grande St. Taylor, TX 76574.
