Mrs. Juanita Alberta Lamey

3/22/1933 – 7/5/2021

Juanita Alberta Lamey was born on March 22, 1933, in New Brighton Pennsylvania. She died in Hesperia, California, on July 5, 2021.

Juanita and her parents moved to Azusa, California in 1956. It was there that she met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Lamey. After a short courtship, they got married in Las Vegas, and raised their four children, Roberta, Bill, Linda and Shelly, in Pomona and Ontario, California. Although Juanita worked outside the home for a few years when her children were older, her primary job was to be the best wife, mother, and homemaker that she could. And she succeeded. Her kids always came home from school with their mother there to greet them with a snack and home cooked dinner. Dick was greeted home from work with a kiss and his beverage of choice. She was perfect at her job, and enjoyed her family immensely.

When Dick retired, Dick and Juanita moved to Phelan, California where they lived for 20 years, enjoying family and their pistachio orchard. Many fun family times were spent in Phelan. After a couple of decades in Phelan, they moved to Hesperia, California, where Dick encouraged Juanita to branch out and make friends. That she did, primarily through her Hattitudes Red Hat Club but also with her Senior Aerobics Group and her hand-and-foot card playing friends. She would want you ladies to know how much your companionship and friendship meant to her.

We are blessed that Juanita enjoyed 87 ½ years of excellent health. She is probably one of the few in her age group that took no medication except for a thyroid supplement.

Juanita leaves behind her husband: Richard (Dick) Lamey; 4 children Roberta Larson (Jerry), Bill Lamey (Cecilia), Linda Rodell, Shelly DeCrane (John); nine grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. She also leaves two recently-discovered biological cousins and several nieces and nephews (thank you ancestry.com and Joyce Medlin). Her parents Daniel Runion and Hazel Runion who have passed on.

A public graveside service is planned for Tuesday, July 13th, at 10am at Desert View Cemetery (11478 Amargosa Rd, Victorville, CA) followed by a reception at Juanita’s home: 8187 Mission Street, Hesperia, CA.
