The family doesn’t know me, but Nick was my father Saverio DiLeo’s 1st cousin. His father Umberto was my grand fathers Noé DiLeo’s brother. My grandfather was the only sibling from their generation to remain in Italy. My father and Nick spoke over the years via the phone. My father was a little boy one Nick wasn’t Italy during World War II. Nick ended up being in Italy won my father sister Orsula DiLeo was getting married and he attended. 

From that moment forward memories bound them together to have a relationship via telephone. My father immigrated to the United States in 1965. I believe at that time my father was re-introduced to Nick After meeting his extended family they were all born in the United States. I remember meeting Nicholas his brother Rocco When he would stop by with another one of their cousins Joseph Calo who is my godfather. Rocco would stop by the house on announced every once in a while with a new girlfriend during his trips between Florida and New York.

It amazes me that there are so many DeLeo’s All over the country that I am related to that I just don’t know. My father will be gone a year 4/3/2022 And I was just being nostalgic looking up some of the people that he spoke about over the years. I remember talking to Nicholas myself on the phone whenever my dad would call. They always talked about getting together with my father if he would go to California. My father never went to California, he basically never left New York after immigrating to the US.

If anyone has a picture or two of the wedding that Nicholas attended in Italy during World War II I would love to see them since that was my aunt and her husband was my mothers uncle if you can believe that.

I do have a folder on my Facebook page of all the old pictures my father used to have from Italy. There are not too many Noe DiLeo’s in this world so you Can find me easily. I have old pictures of Nicholas’s grandparents  Rocco And Ursula DiLeo If you want to find them.

Pop's 2years today you left this earth I am greatful your grand kids and great grand kids were able to know you, they still talk about you an the memories, like catching flies an coins from your elbow. You have left us all so many great memories, always happy on outside no matter what you felt inside. Right to the end you were singing an making jokes. I pray I can be that strong!!!

When I met the DeLeo family in about 1966, I became a family member. As Bubbles and I became best friends, her Mom and Dad always welcomed her friends into their home. Nick was always happy and singing Dean Martin songs.  More than once I got to see his grapes growing in the backyard. I never saw the wine though :).  He was always very loving.  Lucky family to have such a great Dad!

Your loss is our loss too and we send our love to help get you through this.  Uncle Nick was such a special person who showered us all with his love and compassion.  We should all wrap ourselves in that love keeping him always in our hearts and memories.

Pops you will be greatly missed, you are a great man! You have so much love that you shared with all of us unconditionally. You are smart, kind, charismatic, fun, and a friend to all. You have blessed me with so many wonderful memories like flying on your feet, hiding in the sheets, picking up loose change that fell out of your pockets, singing songs, talking to me about what kind of man to marry, asking me when I was going to give you great grand babies with big lips (you finally got two from me, took a while I was waiting for the right guy), telling me stories about how you met grandma just to name a few. So very sorry for the loss of this great man.  He was the classiest, nicest, funniest man I ever had the pleasure of knowing.  He always had his arms open for the big bear.hugs he always seemed to know I needed.  I loved him like a dad for many years until we lost touch, but then many years later welcomed me in as family again. He lived a long blessed life...the world will never know a man like him again.  RIP pops!?
