Raul (Rudy) Ramos Bautista aka “Ruly” was the youngest of seven. Rudy was born in Ysleta, TX, on March 3, 1951. He entered into rest Wednesday, January 5, 2022 in Escondido, California after a long battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He moved to Barstow, California in 1976 to follow his older brother Richard and to take care of his Mom, Francisca. He began working at US Borax in 1979 as an operator and worked there for 22 years. He met his bride there in 1990 and they were married for 30 beautiful years.
He was dedicated to his wife and children, always available to help with home repairs, car repairs, and pretty much any other repairs that you could possibly think of. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and never turned down a challenge in Karaoke. He also loved making our favorite flavored popcorn whenever we came over for visits and soon became known as the friendly neighborhood popcorn man. He had a golden heart, an infectious smile, a quick sense of humor, and a hearty laugh.
Rudy was very proud of sons John and Joey and their long successful careers in the Army. He often boasted about his daughter Melissa being a Registered Nurse. His grandchildren were the sparkle in his eyes. He enjoyed spending time with all of them and never missed a chance to tell the world about how proud of them he was. Rudy embraced his all-important role as Lolo.
Rudy was a man of many talents and an avid watch collector who enjoyed wood working, tinkering in the garage, collecting nuts and bolts, lemon flavored anything, watching reruns of Gunsmoke and Rawhide, discussing who makes the best chorizo, reminiscing about his old Buick, talking about how dependable his old green Chevy Luv was, and above all, his family.
He is survived by his wife Gaye Bautista, children John and Cecilia, Joey and Joyce, and Melissa and Michael. Grand children: Sarah, Leah, Jocelyn, Jolyna, Greyson, and Aunalysse, Sister - Grace Lucero, along with extended family members and friends.
Although taken too soon, Rudy was and will always be loved and remembered. We take comfort in knowing that he is at peace, no longer suffering and watching over his family.
A visitation for Rudy will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Desert View Funeral Home, 11478 Amargosa Rd, Victorville, California 92392. A rosary and mass will occur Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, El Evado Road, Victorville, California 92392.
