Stephen Andrew Kelly, a devoted son, loving husband, proud father, doting grandfather, and esteemed Air Force veteran, passed away on May 17, 2023, in Victorville, CA. He was born on October 17, 1939, in Providence, RI, to James and Florence Kelly. Stephen's passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family and friends.
Stephen began his lifelong commitment to service by enlisting in the Air Force in 1957. He dedicated 30 years of his life to the military, serving with distinction and achieving the esteemed rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Stephen's leadership and expertise were recognized when he was appointed as the Senior Enlisted Advisor at his last base.
In addition to his military accomplishments, Stephen pursued his education and obtained a Bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland in 1972. He continued to expand his knowledge and obtained a Master's degree from the University of Southern California (USC).
Stephen married the love of his life, Masako Kubo, in 1961, and their bond endured through the joys and challenges of life. Together, they raised two sons, Colin and Christopher. Stephen's role as a father was marked by unwavering support, love, and guidance. Tragically, his son Christopher passed away before him, leaving a lasting void in the family.
After retiring from the Air Force, Stephen embarked on a second career as an executive with the Boy Scouts of America from 1988 to 1995. His dedication to mentoring and shaping young lives continued as he contributed to the growth and development of countless individuals.
Stephen's warm spirit, wisdom, and genuine kindness endeared him to his siblings, Michael, Patricia, Maureen, and Kathleen. He cherished family gatherings and created lasting memories with his loved ones. His legacy of love and strength will forever be treasured.
Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Masako, his son Colin, and his granddaughter, Samantha. He will be remembered as a devoted family man, a respected veteran, and a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
