Walter Revilo “Rev” Cooper of Apple Valley, Ca. passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 89. He was born in Tulsa, OK and spent his boyhood in Scottsdale, AZ. After moving to San Bernardino in 1943, he lived the rest of his life in California.
Rev graduated from San Bernardino High School, San Bernardino Valley College, and attended Cal Poly State University San Luis Obispo. He received a BA Degree from California State University Fresno and a MA Degree from California State College Los Angeles.
Education became Rev’s profession, teaching elementary school for 16 years. In 1967 he became a principal in the Adelanto School District where he served for 20 years at Adelanto and H.R. Sheppard schools.
Rev’s hobbies were woodworking and beekeeping. Many people were fond of his “local honey”.
The goal of Rev’s life was to love and serve his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to provide a spiritual foundation for his family. Therefore, Rev willingly served in various positions at Apple Valley Baptist Church and the Evangelical Free Baptist Church of Hesperia (now High Desert Church, Hesperia Campus).
Rev’s love was manifested to his family, and they rejoiced in it. He is survived by his wife Janice Cooper, his sons Brian Cooper, Dale (Karen) Cooper, Martin (Janet) Cooper, along with five grand-children: Robert (Catherine) Cooper, Kelly (Victor) Randolph, Kristy (Victor) Aguilar, Heidi (Greg) Wilson, and Heather (Todd) May. He was known as “Papa Rev” to his great grand-children. Other survivors are his brother-in-law, Richard Zane, and his nephew, Daniel Zane.
Rev was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife and mother of his children, Betty Cooper, his brother, Gary Cooper, and his sister, Sue Zane.
A memorial service and Celebration of his life will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Sonlife Community Church. 13324 Apple Valley, Rd., Apple Valley, CA. 92308. An “ice cream social” reception will follow.
