He was a native of Starks and had been a longtime resident of Vinton. He was a member of Starks First Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Stanley; three sons, Carole Wendell Stanley, Jr. of Vinton, Dwayne Hamilton of Vinton, and Jeff Hamilton and wife, Pat of Lubbock, Texas; two daughters, Cindy Guthrie and husband, Hal of Houston, Texas, and Ramona Adams and husband, Monty of Ponchatoula; his siblings, Verble, Joseph, and Robert Stanley, Sandra Peveto, and Lillian Howard, all of Starks, and Cecil Stanley of Lumberton, Texas; and ten grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Elroy and Jerry Stanley.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 16, in First Pentecostal Church of Starks. The Rev. Greg Frazier will officiate. Burial will be in Miller Annex Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Monday, all in the church.
