David Lynn Tinker, 85, of Vinton passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025. David was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 2, 1940, to R.B. and Jewell Coble Tinker. In 1944, when he was 4, they moved to Bache/McAlester, Oklahoma. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1958 and attended Southeastern Oklahoma University and McNeese State University.
David joined the U.S. Navy, serving for 2 years before switching to the Air Force for another 3 years. He was a surgical technician serving in Spain and a member of the Spanish Paratroopers, making 6 career jumps.
David retired from Conoco after many years of service as a top operator and safety supervisor. He was a member of the Fire Brigade at Conoco and was a volunteer fireman for the DeQuincy Fire Department for a number of years.
David resided in Vinton and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Orange, Texas.
He is survived by his brother, Wiley O. Tinker of Calera, Oklahoma; his wife, Judy Dyson Tinker of Sulphur; daughters, Susan Blount of Westlake and Sara Robertson and husband, Mark of Bossier City; son, Butch Tinker and wife, Kensie of Carlyss; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
A Memorial will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home under the direction of Rev. Micah Drengler. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until time of the service. Inurnment will follow at Good Hope Cemetery in Singer.
