

She was a native of Flora, Illinois and had been a resident of Vinton since 1957, moving from Mesquite, Texas. Dorothy had moved to The Meadows Care Center in Orange, Texas in 2011. She worked her entire life and enjoyed spending any free time that she had with her family. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Vinton.
Survivors include her sons, Larry Parish of Vinton and Ken Parish and wife, Judy of Deville; two brothers, Robert Smith and Charles Smith, both of Vinton; two sisters, Opal Bryant of Alexandria and Mickey Archuleta of Concord, California; four grandchildren, Chad Parish and wife, Lisa, Todd Parish and wife, Charlene, Misty Arceneaux, and Deadra Fontenot and husband, Johnathan; and ten great-grandchildren, Trevor, Alyssa, Faith, Blake, Blane, Cameron, Connor, Chloe, Christian, and Cameron. She is preceded in death by her husband, M.E. Parish; a granddaughter, Felisha Parish; great-grandson, Davon Parish; and a brother, Henry L. Smith.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The Rev. Rob Tibbitts will officiate. Burial will be in Niblett's Bluff Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
