He was a native and lifelong resident of Vinton. Wayne was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was very active in the Cursillio Movement, participated in the Pentecost Walk for 20 years, and loved making rosaries. He was a hard worker who was dedicated to his family, and he never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Jo Beth Richard; his children, Whitney Holzer and Matthew Wayne Richard; his parents, John and Betty Richard, all of Vinton; his sister, Susan Richard of Houston, Texas; his brother, Terry Richard and wife, Rosemary of Vinton; and his granddaughter, Tara Beth Holzer. He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Noemi O'Connor; and his grandparents, Leona and Frank Miller.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton. The Rev. Susil Fernando will officiate. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday with a Cursillo Rosary at 7 p.m. and will resume at 8 a.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home.
