A native of Orange, Texas, Louis had been a resident of Vinton for nearly 50 years. He was a welder by trade and retired from Huber Carbon Plant as an Operations Supervisor after more than 30 years of dedicated service. In his free time, Louis enjoyed hunting, fishing, shrimping, golfing, and woodworking. A skilled craftsman, he proudly built his own home as well as his brother’s home.
Louis was a longtime member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge #364 in Vinton, where he faithfully served in many positions over the years and was raised a Master Mason. He truly loved Masonry and transferred that love onto other members. He faithfully served the Vinton Lodge for 26 years until his passing.
Brother Louis was well known and respected for this proficiency of his Masonic work. For many years, he taught and mentored the majority of all new candidates who passed through the doors of the Vinton Lodge.
He was a humble person, willing to share his Masonic knowledge as he traveled throughout the 10th Masonic District conferring Degrees. He was known as a teacher who took pride in his students, and placed their successes and advancements over his own. He was known as a peacemaker, always promoting peace and harmony in the Lodge, while mentoring new leaders.
Over the years he also served as Worshipful Master of the Vinton Lodge, Worshipful Master of the 10th Masonic District Lodge, District Deputy Grand Master, Treasurer of the Vinton Lodge, as Honorary Member of Westlake Lodge #443, he served on the Grand Lodge Membership Development Committee, and also served in all other Lodge duties, wherever he was needed.
He was a devoted family man who especially adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Though known for being both stubborn and protective, Louis will be remembered most for his selflessness, devotion, remarkable character, and his love for God. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
