My love goes out to the family.  Mrs. DeRolf was my teacher in 1983 when I was in her preschool class.  I am now a teacher of 3-6 year olds.  My parents were educators and loved her dearly, and have spoke very highly of her gifts as an educator.  I remember visiting her at her home with my family, and walking through her big garden as a child.
My father passed away this year, and as I have been counting my blessings...many teachers and guides have crossed my mind.  I remember Mrs. DeRolf reciting Shel Silverstein's boa constrictor poem and just loving acting it out with her.  Her dress up area was fun too!  Tonight I was trying to find her address just to mail her and say thank you.  Then I found the news of her passing.  Mrs. DeRolf, surely you have shaped me with your love and dedication to children.  I will carry your lessons of love and joy with me, and joyfully share your boa constrictor poem wih my class this week in your memory.  I wish I had found you before you left.  Thank you.

Mrs, DeRolf was the most amazing teacher!  All three of my children had the honor to be in her class.  I have yet to meet any other teacher like her! She was so attentive, loving, and caring!  She will truly be missed by so many.

Mrs. DeRolf was our daughter's teacher at ODU when our daughter was 4.  She was always so positive and enthusiastic.  I was able to observe one or two classes.  I still remember after 42 years an example of her positive approach to squirming kids, spoken with clear midwestern diction: "I LIKE the way Susie is sitting!"

Carol and I grew up together from babyhood and were lifelong friends.  We roomed together during our senior year in high school, our second year in college and our first year of teaching all while in Kearney .  We remained friends until her death and enjoyed traveling together whenever we could. 
 I will always remember the good times we had while children growing up in the Newark community and during our high school years.  I was so looking forward to her visit with Mike and I in May when she planned on coming to Washington to see the beautiful spring flowers and sites.  
I will miss her so much!

Carol grew up in my neighborhood in Newark.  She was always so pleasant.  She stopped to see us the last time she was in Nebraska and had not changed.  May God's grace be with the family.

I will miss her very much! My first PreK and Kindergarten teacher!  My first presentation in circle time was about an American artist, Georgia O'Keeffe. Mrs. DeRolf told me I may like her because we both loved painting flowers! She was right!

I am blessed to have worked with Mrs. DeRolf at ODU. She always wore the brightest smile and the children loved her teaching! She will be missed so much. Sabra Gear, CDSE dept., ODU

Carol was such a special lady - she and I enjoyed chatting about the grandchildren. We also had preschoolers in common and always had some great stories to share there. She had a beautiful knock-out smile that lit up the room. I will miss her very much.

I was extremely fortunate to be placed with Carol at ODU's Early Childhood Center for a class called "Observation and Participation."  She was an exceptional and caring teacher, not only for the children in her class, but for the future teachers who had the privilege of working under her direction.  Even after the course was over, Carol allowed me to come back in her classroom to complete projects for other education classes with her students. She was truly an inspiration for me and I am so grateful to have known her.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Mrs. DeRolf was such a wonderful friend.  We met her when she taught both our daughters.  She taught with tremendous skill and love.  I could never thank her enough for the early childhood education she shared with our daughters.  We offer our full love Mrs. DeRolf and family.

All of us in the Dept of Communication Disorders & Special Ed at ODU (formerly Carol's dept) are saddened to hear of Carol's passing. Her warm, loving presence has been missed since her retirement and we mourn with you at her passing.

Mrs. Carol DeRolf was a loving teacher to both of our children who enjoyed her sense of humor and taught that learning can and should be fun!  She will forever have a special place in our hearts!  She certainly was an educator extraordinaire and will be missed by many!

Such a sweet lady that I enjoyed getting to know over the years since Dirk and Michele got married. A great lady with a great smile, always pleasant to be around. She will be missed so much.

Mrs. DeRolf was the most loving and kindest person who gave herself selflessly to teaching so many children.  She saw the potential in every child and each and every child knew that she cared and loved each of them.  Her classroom was always so happy and loving and she will be dearly missed.  She was an inspiration to us all and she will always be in our hearts.  (John, Shim and Reagan)

To Dan, Dirk and family, You are in our prayers. I have fond memories of spending time with your Mom at Uncle Vern & Aunt Rosie's farm in Newark. Carole would let me play with her many special dolls and her doll house. Carol was so very kind to always invite my husband and myself and my parents (from McCook) to dinner when they visited us in Norfolk. She was a very special cousin. Love, Jim. And Shirley Teeters

She was a light in the world. She touched so many young lives, including my children. Some people will be remembered forever and she is one. A quiet thoughtful force that will go on through her many contributions and impact on others. I will miss her.
