The family of Doris R. Odom sadly announces her passing on February 27th, 2025 at the age of 84 years young. Born July 10, 1940, in Groton, Connecticut, she passed away at home in Virginia Beach. Doris leaves behind her loving children, a son Wyatt Jr. (Michelle) of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter Deborah (Dave) of The Villages Florida; son Wayne (Sabrina) of Moultrie, Georgia; daughter Diana (Dale) of Virginia Beach, Virginia.; Sister Barbara Reifeiss and husband Fred (d2024).
Grandchildren: Wyatt Spencer Odom, III (d1983), Sara Odom, Ruth Odom, Bill Thruman, Tami Arnette (husband Alex), Ivy Odom Aponte (husband Luis), Nicole Fleck and Tina Fleck. Great-Grandchildren: Makenzie (d 2011), Makayla, Dominic, Gianna and Christa. Many Nieces and Nephews will miss her as well.
Doris was predeceased by her identical twin sister: Dorothy Gaither (d 2011); as well as her parents: Robert and Simone.
Mom lived a very active life full of adventure while she navigated the waterways on a 64’ boat that she lived on, cooking and entertaining friends and family, spoiling her grandchildren with many homemade crafts from her heart, bowling and traveling. No adventure was too small or large and she took everyday as a new journey. Mom, thank you for loving us and always being there for us. May your journey to heaven bring you peace. We Love You.
A Memorial Service will be held at Smith & Williams Funeral Home/ Kempsville, Virginia Beach, Virginia on Friday March 7th, 2025 at 2pm. Doris will be cremated per her wishes.
