CDR. Edward Henry Cahill, U.S. Navy, Ret., 84, passed away on January 12, 2013 peacefully at his residence. CDR. Cahill was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-eight years Marion B. Cahill. CDR. Cahill retired from the U.S. Navy after twenty-nine years of service. He served as Past Commander of The Elizabeth River Power Squadron and was a former member of Virginia Beach Sail and Power Squadron. After his military service he served as a teacher at First Colonial High School for four years.
Survivors include his daughter Suzanne M. Rodman and husband Dwain; a grandson Jason T. Rodman and wife Stacey; a great grandson who was the apple of his eye, Joseph E. Rodman and a sister Elizabeth Cahill of Long Island, NY.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., January 16, 2013 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk, VA.
