Edward B. Card, Sr.

Edward Bennett Card, 92, passed away on April 22, 2018. He was born in Raleigh, NC to the late Sterling and Pearl Card. Edward served his country in the US Marine Corp during WWII. He was a printer for the Virginian Pilot and retired after more than 50 years and a member of Norview Baptist Church. He greatly enjoyed traveling to the outer banks with his wife, Mae Card who predeceased him in 2009. He is also predeceased by 2 brothers, James and Jessie Card.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Bennett Card and his husband Ed Cattaneo of Virginia Beach; grandson Ben Card and his wife Tandi of Greenville, SC; and 2 great grandchildren Isla and Avery Card.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Episcopal Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church.
