

Felix Rodriguez Cruz, 80, after battling cancer for 8 years, passed away on September 10, 2013 surrounded by family at Sentara Hospice House. He was born on March 7, 1933 in Manila, Philippines. He is survived by his loving wife, Amy de Leon Cruz of 45 years; son, Allen Cruz and his wife Diane and their son Nicolas of Virginia Beach; daughter Michelle Cruz Cox and her husband Michael and their sons Kyle and Garrett of North Carolina; and daughter Christinne Pearson and her husband Steven and their children Rilee and Zachary of Virginia Beach; and sister Maria Luisa Cruz Jimeno. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucas Cruz and Maria Rodriguez, four brothers and one sister.
He retired from the Philippines Bureau of Coast and Geodetic Survey, Department of National Defense as a Commander in 1981 after which he immigrated to the United States and worked for NOAA for 21 years. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in the Philippines, and was one of the founders of the Credit Union in Dongalo, Paranaque. He was also an active member of St. Vincent De Paul, Paranaque Association of Virginia. Felix loved fishing, gardening and taking care of his grandchildren.
A Visitation and Pray Service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013 from 6-9pm at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A Mass will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11AM at St. Luke’s, 2304 Salem Rd., Virginia Beach, VA, followed by a burial at Rosewood Memorial Park.
