

Georgia Louise Kearney, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 85. Born on June 11, 1939, in Seymour, TN, Georgia lived a life filled with love, kindness, and generosity.
A devoted military wife to her loving husband, William Kearney, Georgia exemplified strength, care, and resilience. Together, they built a beautiful life, nurturing a family that she cherished deeply. Georgia was the embodiment of what it means to be "the most amazing mother that anyone could ask for."
Her career as a business owner and hair stylist at Styles for Men and Women allowed her to connect with many in her community through her talent and warmth. Beyond her professional life, Georgia found joy in working out at Bow Creek Recreation Center, enjoying lunch and shopping excursions with friends, tending to her garden, completing puzzles, and immersing herself in books as an avid reader.
Georgia was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church Just Seniors group, where she fostered meaningful relationships and engaged actively in community life.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years William Kearney; parents, Nathan P. Rogers and Zora Bell Delozier Rogers; brother Homer Rogers; and granddaughter Lindsey Scarbrow.
Georgia's remarkable spirit lives on through her surviving family: daughters Karen Elizabeth Scarbrow (Lee) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Cathy Kearney Heffner (Ron) of Sevierville, TN; step-children Lisa Kearney (Matt Bernhardt) and Michael Kearney (Bennie); sister Elma Jean Owenby (Gene); grandson Dustin Scarbrow; and step-grand children Preston Giet, Brandon Giet, Desiree Giet, Amber Sullivan and Jamie Cowart. Her family and friends will forever remember her as strong, caring, kind, giving, and loving.
A memorial service in honor of Georgia Louise Kearney will be held at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, 4889 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 2:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her wonderful life and the immense love she shared with all who knew her.
